When a Family Asks Siri for Assisted Living Near Them, Is Your Community the Answer?
There are two entirely separate machines answering that question, and almost everyone treats them as one. Siri, Google Home, and Alexa read structured listings. ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity read the open web. Each needs a different fix, on a different timeline. We do both — starting with the listings, because those move in days. Start with the free quiz below.
Free Revenue DiscoveryQuick answer
Assisted living AI search visibility comes from two separate systems. Voice assistants — Siri, Google Home, Alexa — answer only from structured listings: Apple Business Connect, Google Business Profile, Bing Places, and Yelp, which can be fixed in days. AI chat assistants — ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity — read the open web and quote whatever facts your pages and third-party directories have written down, which takes weeks to months.
- Machine A — the readers
- ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot
- Machine B — the listers
- Siri, Google Home, Alexa, CarPlay
- Listings fixed in
- Days — claim, verify, complete
- Content citations in
- Weeks to months — ongoing
Who this is for
- Assisted living, memory care, and independent living communities
- CCRCs and multi-site senior living operators
- Marketing directors whose paid lead costs keep climbing
- Communities strong on tours but invisible in "near me" voice results
- Operators competing against A Place for Mom and Caring.com for the same query
What you'll see
- A claimed, verified, fully completed Apple Business Connect listing — the source Siri, Spotlight, and CarPlay actually read
- A Google Business Profile with no blank fields and the most specific primary category available
- Name, address, and phone formatted identically across Google, Apple, Bing, Yelp, and the senior care directories
- Site pages rewritten answer-first, in checkable facts instead of marketing adjectives
- LocalBusiness and FAQPage schema plus a dedicated page for every care level
- A documented before-and-after: the same queries, side by side, at week one and week eight
How it works
A done-for-you system, live in days — not months.
- 01
Baseline and audit
We screenshot your Apple Maps listing and record how ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity answer the questions families ask in your market — before we touch anything. That baseline is the proof, and it can only be captured once.
- 02
Apple Business Connect (Siri, Spotlight, CarPlay)
We search for your existing auto-generated listing rather than creating a duplicate, claim it under a business-owned Apple ID, run verification, and complete every field once the locked sections open. Apple is rolling out paid Maps ads — the free organic position goes to complete listings built now.
- 03
Google Business Profile (Assistant and Nest)
Every field filled, the most specific primary category selected, Services and Products populated, photos posted, Google Posts kept current, and every review answered. It's the single highest-leverage asset: it feeds search, Maps, Assistant, and AI summaries at once.
- 04
NAP cleanup across the record
Name, address, and phone formatted identically on Google, Apple, Bing, Yelp, A Place for Mom, Caring.com, and Seniorly. "Ave" versus "Avenue" is enough to cost you a spoken answer — inconsistency is the most common invisible cause of poor voice performance.
- 05
Answer-first content and schema
Core pages rewritten so the direct answer, with your community name in it, lands in the opening sentence. Facts replace adjectives, real FAQ pages answer spoken-language questions, and LocalBusiness plus FAQPage schema tells machines which text is the answer.
- 06
Third-party record and reporting
We correct pricing and care-level errors on the senior care directories the models weight heavily, then re-run the same queries at week eight and show the before-and-after side by side.
The one thing to understand first
Siri and ChatGPT are two different machines. Nearly every mistake comes from treating them as one.
A flawless Google presence does nothing for Siri, because Siri never reads Google. A perfect Apple listing does nothing for ChatGPT, because ChatGPT never reads Apple Maps. Here's the split.
| Machine A — the readers | Machine B — the listers | |
|---|---|---|
| Who | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot | Siri, Google Home / Assistant, Alexa, CarPlay |
| What it reads | The open web — your pages, plus every page that mentions you | Structured listing databases only |
| Source of truth | Your website and third-party mentions | Apple Maps, Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Yelp |
| You win by | Writing quotable, checkable facts into your pages | Claiming and completing your listings |
| Timeline | Weeks to months | Days |
Machine B is faster, cheaper, and almost nobody in senior living has done it. It's where we start every engagement — a visible win inside a week, which buys the patience the slower content work requires.

Assisted living AI and voice search readiness checklist
- Have you claimed and verified your community in Apple Business Connect (businessconnect.apple.com)? Claim and verify Apple Business Connect. Siri, Spotlight, CarPlay, and Apple Intelligence answer local questions from Apple Maps data — not from Google, and not from your website. Search before you create: most listings already exist as auto-generated records, and a duplicate is painful to unwind.
- Is your Apple listing fully completed — description, categories, attributes, photos, hours, and holiday hours? Finish the Apple listing after verification clears. Most fields stay locked until then, which is why owners claim a listing, see a bare dashboard, and assume it isn't worth doing. Apple is also rolling out paid Maps ads — complete listings built now hold the free position first.
- Does your Google Business Profile use the most specific primary category available (e.g. "Assisted Living Facility," not "Retirement Community")? Tighten your primary category and fill every remaining field. Specificity is what lets Google Assistant and Nest match a narrow spoken question to your community instead of a generic senior housing result.
- Are the Services and Products sections of your Google Business Profile filled out, with photos posted and Google Posts current? Populate Services and Products — each entry is another surface a spoken query can match. Post photos regularly and keep Google Posts live; active profiles are ranked and read aloud more often than dormant ones.
- Is your name, address, and phone formatted identically everywhere — Google, Apple, Bing, Yelp, A Place for Mom, Caring.com, Seniorly? Run a NAP audit. "Ave" versus "Avenue," or an inconsistent "LLC," is enough to cause trouble. Inconsistent NAP is the most common invisible cause of poor voice performance — assistants drop low-confidence records when only one or two results fit.
- Do you have 25+ Google reviews from the last 12 months, above a 4.3 average, with a reply on every one? Run a systematic review loop and reply to every review. Recency, volume, and response rate all influence which community the assistant names out loud.
- Have you claimed Bing Places and your Yelp listing? Claim Bing Places (which feeds Microsoft Copilot) and Yelp (which historically feeds Alexa's local answers). Lowest priority of the listing work, but it's 30 minutes and it closes the last gap.
- Do your pages lead with the direct answer in the opening sentence, with your community name in it? Restructure to answer-first. Machines extract the first clean sentence — if the answer arrives in paragraph three, it doesn't exist. Lead with the answer and the business name, then elaborate.
- Is your site written in checkable facts rather than marketing adjectives? Trade adjectives for facts. "Built in 2019, two whole-building generators, two blocks from downtown" is quotable. "Compassionate care in a vibrant community" is not. Every adjective you replace with a verifiable fact is a unit of progress.
- Do you have real FAQ pages answering spoken-language questions like "How much does assisted living cost in [your city]?" Write complete question-and-answer pairs phrased the way families actually speak — not a page titled "Pricing." Cost questions are the highest-volume assisted living query type in AI chat and voice, and most communities refuse to answer them publicly.
- Does your site publish LocalBusiness and FAQPage schema, with a dedicated page per care level? Add LocalBusiness and FAQPage schema and split care levels into their own pages. FAQ markup no longer reliably earns rich results, but it still tells machines which text is the question and which is the answer — and one combined services page can't rank for memory care, respite, and skilled nursing at once.
- Are your listings on A Place for Mom, Caring.com, and Seniorly accurate — especially pricing? Fix the third-party record. These models weight the senior care directories heavily, often above your own site. Correcting a wrong price on a directory can move the AI answer faster than rewriting a page.
- Does your site load fast on mobile, with key answers in crawlable HTML (not images, PDFs, or JS-only accordions)? Fix page speed and mobile rendering, and keep answers in readable HTML. Slow pages get passed over as sources, and a crawler that can't read your answer can't cite it.
Order of operations
What the first eight weeks look like.
- Week 1Capture the "before" — screenshots of your Apple Maps listing and the answers AI assistants give today. You only get one chance to record the baseline.
- Week 1Claim Apple Business Connect and start verification. Phone verification can clear in minutes; postcard runs 5–7 days, and Apple closes the window after 14.
- Week 1–2Complete the Google Business Profile end to end — specific primary category, services, products, attributes, hours, holiday hours, photos.
- Week 2NAP audit and cleanup across every directory, so name, address, and phone are formatted identically everywhere.
- Week 2Finish the Apple listing once verification clears and the locked fields open up.
- Week 3–4Rewrite core site pages answer-first — facts over adjectives, care levels split onto their own pages.
- Week 4–6Build out real FAQ pages in spoken language and add LocalBusiness plus FAQPage schema.
- Week 6Claim Bing Places (feeds Copilot) and Yelp (feeds Alexa's local answers).
- Week 8Re-run the same queries and show the before-and-after side by side.
We don't promise rankings. We control what's written down and how accurately it's published — coverage, accuracy, and quotability are ours to deliver; what a model does with them is not.

Assisted living AI and voice visibility SOP steps
- Claim and verify Apple Business Connect — Week 1 · 1 hour + verification wait. Search before you create — most communities already exist as an auto-generated record. Duplicates are painful to unwind. Verification unlocks the rest of the fields.
- Complete every Apple listing field — Week 1–2 · 2 hours. Description, categories, attributes, photos, hours, holiday hours. Do this after verification clears — most fields stay locked until then.
- Tighten the Google Business Profile primary category — Week 1 · 30 minutes. Use the most specific option available ("Assisted Living Facility," not "Retirement Community"), then fill every remaining field.
- Populate GBP Services, Products, photos, and Posts — Week 2 · 2 hours, then ongoing. Each entry is another surface a spoken query can match. Keep Posts current — active profiles get read aloud more often than dormant ones.
- Run a NAP consistency audit — Week 2 · 3 hours. Name, address, phone identical across Google, Apple, Bing, Yelp, A Place for Mom, Caring.com, Seniorly. "Ave" vs "Avenue" is enough to cause trouble.
- Stand up a systematic review loop — Week 3 · setup, then ongoing. Target 25+ Google reviews in the trailing 12 months, above a 4.3 average, with a reply on every single one. Recency and response rate both matter.
- Claim Bing Places and Yelp — Week 3 · 30 minutes. Bing feeds Microsoft Copilot; Yelp has historically fed Alexa's local answers. Lowest priority here, but it's 30 minutes and closes the last listing gap.
- Restructure key pages answer-first — Week 4–5 · per page. Lead with the direct answer and the community name in the opening sentence, then elaborate. If the answer arrives in paragraph three, machines won't find it.
- Replace marketing adjectives with checkable facts — Week 4–6 · rolling. "Built in 2019, two whole-building generators, two blocks from downtown" is quotable. "Compassionate care in a vibrant community" is not.
- Publish real FAQ pages in spoken language — Week 5–6 · 6–10 questions. Complete question-and-answer pairs phrased the way families speak — including cost questions, the highest-volume assisted living query type in AI chat and voice.
- Add LocalBusiness + FAQPage schema and split care levels — Week 6 · 1 day of dev. One combined services page can't rank for memory care, respite, and skilled nursing at once. Give each care level its own page with its own markup.
- Correct the third-party directory record — Week 7 · 2 hours. A Place for Mom, Caring.com, Seniorly — models weight these heavily, often above your own site. Fixing a wrong price there can move the AI answer faster than a rewrite.
- Fix mobile speed and keep answers in crawlable HTML — Week 8 · dev pass. No answers locked inside images, PDFs, or JS-only accordions. A crawler that can't read your answer can't cite it.

Questions buyers ask before getting started.
What's the difference between how Siri and ChatGPT find a senior living community?+
They're two separate machines. Siri, Google Home, Alexa, and CarPlay read structured listing databases only — Apple Maps, Google Business Profile, Bing Places, and Yelp. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity read the open web: your pages plus every page that mentions you. Fixing one does nothing for the other.
How does Siri decide which assisted living community to recommend?+
Siri answers local questions from Apple Maps data, which comes from Apple Business Connect. Not from Google, and not from your website. A flawless Google presence does nothing here — which is exactly why the opportunity is still open in senior living.
How long does it take to fix Apple Business Connect?+
About 20 minutes of work plus up to five business days of waiting, and it's free. Search for your existing auto-generated listing before creating anything, claim it under a business-owned Apple ID, and verify by phone (often minutes) or postcard (5–7 days). Apple closes the verification window after 14 days.
Why are most of the Apple listing fields greyed out?+
Description, attributes, categories, photos, and hours stay locked until verification clears. Owners routinely claim a listing, see a bare dashboard, and conclude it isn't worth doing — the fields open once you're verified.
What makes the Google Business Profile the highest-leverage asset?+
It feeds ordinary Google search, Maps, Google Assistant and Nest speakers, and increasingly Google's AI summaries — all at the same time. Complete every field, pick the most specific primary category available, populate Services and Products, post photos, and reply to every review.
Why does NAP consistency matter so much for voice results?+
Assistants cross-reference your name, address, and phone across Google, Apple, Bing, Yelp, and the senior care directories to confirm the record is current. "Ave" versus "Avenue," or an inconsistent "LLC," lowers confidence — and low-confidence listings get dropped from spoken answers where only one or two results fit.
Do seniors actually use smart speakers to find assisted living?+
The person asking usually isn't the resident. It's the adult daughter, in the car, asking her phone between visits — and she decides which three communities get a call.
How do we get ChatGPT and Perplexity to quote us?+
They can't quote what nobody has written down. Lead every page with the direct answer and your community name in the opening sentence, replace marketing adjectives with checkable facts, publish real FAQ pages in spoken language, add LocalBusiness and FAQPage schema, and correct your listings on A Place for Mom, Caring.com, and Seniorly — the models weight those directories heavily, often above your own site.
Should assisted living communities publish pricing online?+
Yes — at minimum a monthly range with what's included. Cost questions are the highest-volume assisted living query type in AI chat and voice search, and communities that hide pricing behind a form get skipped in favor of directories that publish ranges.
Can you guarantee we'll rank in AI answers?+
No, and no one honestly can. We control what's written down, how accurately it's published, and how quotable it is. Coverage, accuracy, and quotability are ours to deliver; what a model does with them isn't.
